Vision 21’s Annual Festival Day at Sbectrwm 2008
This years Festival Day was more special than usual as it was celebrating Vision 21’s 21st year of training and trading.
Although it was disappointingly wet this year (In fact it pored down all day long) the rain didn’t dampen the Festival Day spirits. The day was a fantastic success, was very well attend and everyone got into the festive spirit albeit indoors. We are lucky that Sbectrwm is such a lovely adaptable building.
The weather was very disappointing for the Community Garden who had worked so hard to make the garden look absolutely wonderful as usual. BTCV ended up demonstrating their hurdle making workshop in the greenhouse.
Roots allotment project sold a wonderful display of fresh produce grown by students, in a stall outside the hall. Laura Bradshaw from Community music Wales kept the rhythms pulsing in unit 7, which lots of people joined in with through the day.
The Vision 21 ICT project got people playing ‘Bat the Rat’, Woodwork ran the coconut shy, the Oaks had a cake stall, and Community Dance Wales held a lively dance session in the Sbectrwm hall.
Fairwater Pottery contributed face painting as well as offering people the chance to throw a pot on the wheel.
The Vision 21 Gift shop had a stall in the hallway and Pottery and woodwork also had their products on sale in the building. TAM also had a stall giving advice on health and well being.

The raffle was a huge success greatly helped by kind donations from The Thai House, the Happy Gathering, Hilton Cardiff and the New Theatre, as well as Vision 21 projects, The Oaks, The Community Garden, Fieldway Woodwork, and Fairwater Pottery. Gegin Fach also held a ‘guess the weight of the cake’ to raise extra funds.
The food as usual was wonderful and abundant. Our wonderful Vision 21 catering team, transferred their skills to the Hall kitchen instead of the usual bar-b-que out in the garden, and managed to keep everyone happy with their culinary wizardry. The Gegin Fach team also did a roaring trade in cream teas and strawberries and cream.
So despite the weather the day was a huge success all round and enjoyed by all.
