Vision 21 is a registered charity based in Cardiff offering people with learning needs the opportunity to undertake vocational training with a view to employment.

For the past 26 years we have been providing quality training and empowering opportunities to students with learning needs in South East Wales.

Vocational Training

We currently have 17 projects which provide student training and opportunities for volunteer involvement. The projects run as emerging social enterprises and are located in community based settings across Cardiff, Newport, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent and the Vale of Glamorgan.  The range of training opportunities include:

  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Retail
  • Woodworking
  • Horticulture
  • Catering
  • Ceramics - including art, design and portfolio building
  • Card making - including creative design techniques
  • Training and Mentoring
  • Creative Choices - including drama, music, movement & visual art
  • Fun and Friendship - holiday workshops
  • Essential Skills

Transition Opportunities

Throughout its 26 years Vision 21 has also provided important transition opportunities for young people with learning needs to help them to make effective transitions from childhood to adulthood. Vision 21 has also built close links with special schools and partnerships with local colleges to enable this to happen.

Summer Scheme

Over the past 9 years Vision 21 has offered a dedicated Summer Scheme opportunities to school age students throughout the summer months during the school holiday period. This is a fantastic opportunity for people who are considering their career route and want to try some work experience in their chosen activity, in a caring, supportive setting, or for those who are considering a longer training placement with Vision 21.

This scheme provides positive, productive activities for the students involved, as well as an opportunity to try a workshop of their choice over a number of sessions, at a reduced rate.  For some it also helps to fill the long summer gap, with its traditional lack of service provision. (Please note that transport and one to one support, if required, are not provided).
